Marmion Abbey Ale: The Story
The tradition of beer-making by monasteries and monks has been around for thousands of years. In accordance with the monks’ motto that “everything we do is an offering to God,” the monks are bringing the 1,500-year-old monastic tradition of brewing artisanal beer to share with our community.
Father Paul, Prior of Marmion Abbey, joined forces with Energy City Brewing of Batavia to craft a truly unique, smooth and delicious beer that all can enjoy, not just beer fans - a Belgian Style Abbey Ale!
Marmion Abbey was named in honor of Blessed Columba Marmion
OSB (1858-1923) who was renowned for his heroic virtue, sanctity of life and spiritual writings. The monks of Marmion Abbey have been a large part of the Fox Valley community and serve to “grow in charity daily by giving back to those around them.”
