Winter Cheer and Christmas Joy is Almost Over! The holidays are a cherished time at Abbey Farms. It’s our busiest season, a time of year we look forward to every year, and one where we work very hard to bring joy and happiness to families in so many different ways— through our tree farm, our holiday store, our bakery, our Pine Tree Cafe and this year: our new Marmion Abbey Quadruple Ale.
It is now our final weekend of the year! Abbey Farms’ last day of operation in 2019 will be Monday, December 23. As we enter these last days, this is the time each year that we have fun greeting customers who often have been here two or three times already this season — for their turkey or pies at Thanksgiving, for their tree or wreath or garland in December, and now for stocking stuffers from our store. Or — just for a spot to come and wander for a bit, enjoying hot chocolate and donuts, holiday music, warm smiles and good cheer.
Faced with a tree shortage, with managing product inventory and balancing the schedules of seasonal employees, there are certainly a variety of challenges inherent in running our Winter Cheer season at the very highest level. In many ways, however, this year has been our most successful. We are constantly evolving our operations to enhance your enjoyment of Abbey Farms — and your feedback this year has been remarkable. Thank you all for helping to make 2019 such an incredible year!
There are changes on the horizon for Abbey Farms. In 2020 we will be looking to expand our retail operations and limit the number of events in the Nagel Farmstead Emporium. We’re now fundraising for the Abbey Farms Apple Orchard — which will open new avenues for family recreation, education and memories. And there’s much more in the works, long-term. We’re excited about all the possibilities that the future holds!
Please continue to follow us online, gather with your family here during our various seasons, and grow with us as we continue to build traditions that will lead to lasting memories for you and your family!
Abbey Farms Online Store
While the 2019 season for visiting our Nagel Farmstead Emporium store and all the special seasonal items that it offers is winding down – our online store remains open, with many items that are available all year 'round ready for easy purchase and door-to-door shipping. Visit us there at any time to purchase the Abbey Farms staples that you love. Enjoy!
Marmion Abbey Quadruple Ale
Our brand-new 2019 Belgian-style craft brew was created with the assistance of master brewers from two Fox Valley Breweries, under the guidance of Abbey Farms and the monks of Marmion Abbey. It has been highly rated by reviewers, and our first-ever batch is nearly sold out! There is still some remaining, however – and it looks great under the tree! Don't miss this opportunity to try our first Marmion Abbey Ale, and see what beer-lovers have been talking about!
Purchase an Apple Tree for Christmas
Abbey Farms is very proud to have launched a capital campaign to raise money for a beautiful orchard that will grow to include more than 25 varieties of apples. It will be sited across Hart Road in perfect view of visitors of the Farmstead Emporium, with its elevated position on the rise, set back from the eastern side of the road. Customers may sponsor their very own tree, with their tax-deductible donation earning exclusive rights for that tree – for its entire life! Larger donations and corporate sponsorships are available for entire groves, as well. Plant roots with Abbey Farms' Apple Orchard, and watch something beautiful grow on your neighborhood farm!
Recipe of the Month:
It's the last weekend for our Pine Tree Cafe! A delicious place to enjoy German-style comfort food, crafted by our own Chef Dave Voirin. Here is one of his occasional Pine Tree Cafe delicacies!
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
Abbey Farms is always thinking about sustainability, and we work to include sustainable farming, processes and operations into the farm with every initiative. If you'd like to learn more, some of those are outlined on our website!
